Saved by the Mel
Saved By The Mel is a roller derby skater and writer who learned quickly that falling down is inevitable, but getting back up is mandatory. She writes like she skates: aggressively, honestly, and with zero interest in pretending this is a sensible hobby.
She believes roller derby is equal parts sport, art form, and questionable life choice, where confidence is built, egos are checked, and friendships are forged at high speed.
Her introductory work, Whip Me Gently, was born from locker room laughs, track-side chaos, and the deep bond that forms when you willingly hit your friends for fun. This book is her unapologetic tribute to the grit, humor, and beautifully unhinged culture that makes roller derby unlike any other sport.
